Studio & Equipment
In the Classical Pilates system, the equipment is essential because it completes and expands the work begun on the mat. The spring resistance both supports and challenges the body, creating balanced strength, precise alignment, and controlled mobility that cannot be achieved through bodyweight alone. Together, the apparatus form an integrated system designed to develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and full-body control in a progressive and intelligent way.
Mat Pilates (vs. Equipment Pilates)
Mat Pilates is the foundation of the entire method and uses bodyweight resistance to build core strength, control, and endurance. Equipment Pilates incorporates springs and apparatus to either assist or challenge movement, making it more adaptable for injury rehabilitation, strength progression, and precise muscle activation. While mat work builds internal strength and discipline, equipment adds feedback, support, and greater movement possibilities.

Equipment

Ladder Barrel
The Ladder Barrel combines spinal extension, side bending, and rotational work with supportive curves that help restore mobility. It is particularly effective for opening the hips, improving thoracic extension, and lengthening tight musculature. This apparatus enhances flexibility while reinforcing proper spinal alignment and control.

Spine Corrector
The Spine Corrector supports spinal mobility and core strengthening with its curved surface and step platform. It helps restore natural spinal curves while improving posture and breathing mechanics. It is particularly beneficial for counteracting prolonged sitting and improving thoracic mobility.
Ped-o-Pull
The Ped-O-Pull is a vertical spring apparatus designed to refine posture, balance, and axial elongation. It strengthens deep spinal stabilizers while encouraging lift through the crown of the head. This apparatus is excellent for improving alignment, gait mechanics, and full-body integration.

Baby Chair (Arm Chair)
The Baby Chair, also known as the Arm Chair, emphasizes upright posture and upper-body strength. It strengthens the shoulders, arms, and back while reinforcing spinal alignment and control. This apparatus supports graceful, integrated upper-body movement.
Foot Corrector
The Foot Corrector strengthens the intrinsic muscles of the feet and restores proper arch support. It improves balance, gait mechanics, and overall lower-body alignment. Strong, responsive feet form the foundation for efficient movement throughout the entire body.

Toe Corrector
The Toe Corrector gently strengthens and aligns the toes using spring resistance. It helps improve foot mechanics, balance, and weight distribution. This small but powerful tool supports better posture from the ground up.
Neck Stretcher
The Neck Stretcher gently strengthens the deep neck flexors and promotes cervical alignment. It helps counteract forward head posture and tension from prolonged screen use. This apparatus supports improved breathing, posture, and reduced neck strain.

Magic Circle
The Magic Circle provides light resistance to enhance muscle activation and improve connection. It is commonly used to target inner thighs, shoulders, and deep stabilizers. This prop enhances precision, alignment, and neuromuscular control.
Light Dumbbells
Light dumbbells add gentle resistance to increase muscular endurance and coordination. They are often used to enhance upper-body strength while maintaining core engagement. Proper use improves shoulder stability and overall integration with mat and wall work.
Weighted Bar
The Weighted Bar increases proprioceptive awareness and upper-body strength. It challenges stability while reinforcing alignment and shoulder integration. This tool enhances coordination and controlled resistance training.
Gondola Pole
The Gondola Pole assists with balance, alignment, and upright integration. It encourages axial length and coordination through standing exercises. It is especially useful for refining posture and controlled movement patterns. Its a great tool to help provide proprioception for single leg work in standing.
Short Pole
The Short Pole is used primarily on the Reformer for spinal articulation and core control exercises. It provides feedback for alignment and stability during rolling and seated work. It supports improved coordination and deep abdominal engagement.
Sticky Mats
Sticky mats provide traction and safety during Reformer and Wunda chair-based exercises. They improve traction by reducing the risk of slipping, this helps to improve safety while moving. They enhance comfort and confidence during practice.

Pilates Reformer Box
The Reformer box is used to expand exercise variations by providing clearance for different exercises. They allow for seated, prone (on stomach), and supine (on back) strengthening work targeting the core, hips, and back. These boxes add versatility and progression within the Classical system.
Jump Board
The Jump Board is an attachment for the Reformer that creates a padded, stable surface for jumping and plyometric-style exercises performed lying down. It allows for dynamic, low-impact cardiovascular work while protecting the joints through controlled spring resistance. This apparatus builds leg strength, power, coordination, and endurance while maintaining core engagement and proper alignment.

Trapeze
The Trapeze is part of the Cadillac and allows for hanging, inversion, and advanced strength exercises. It builds upper-body strength, spinal decompression, and full-body integration. This apparatus challenges control while improving flexibility and power.
Fuzzies
Fuzzies are padded straps used on the Cadillac for leg and arm exercises. They provide comfort and support during suspended or assisted movements. They allow for safe stretching, strengthening, and decompression work.

2×4
The 2×4 is a simple wooden board used to improve foot alignment and proprioception. It strengthens the arches and challenges balance. This tool refines standing posture and weight distribution.
Kuna Board
The Kuna Board is an upholstered board used as a stable base of support within the Classical Pilates system. It enhances alignment and precision, particularly in exercises such as Spread Eagle or Roll Back, by providing consistent grounding and tactile feedback. Through its use, practitioners strengthen the feet, ankles, and legs while improving balance, control, and full-body integration.
